EmpowR Network

Bangladesh faces significant challenges in addressing climate change impacts and reducing disaster risks. To effectively tackle these challenges, there is a need for a dedicated entity that can provide coordination, expertise, and funding mechanisms.

EmpowR Network is a national climate change consortium, an independent entity, that can effectively mobilize resources and facilitate collaboration among stakeholders.

Objectives

Coordinated Efforts

Facilitate coordination among organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders involved in climate change resilience and DRR initiatives in Bangladesh.

Access to Experts

Establish a pool of experts in climate change resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction, accessible to organizations and individuals seeking guidance, technical support, and capacity-building opportunities.

Build Local Capacity

Strengthen the capacity of local organizations, groups, and individuals to effectively respond to climate change challenges and reduce disaster risks.

Efficient Funding Mechanism

Create a streamlined funding mechanism within the entity that allows for quick and efficient collection and dispersal of funds to respond to climate-related disasters.

Purpose

The purpose of this consortium is to establish a platform for organizations that are focused on Climate Change Resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction strategies in Bangladesh. The consortium will prioritize engagement with Youth and Women Groups and organizations in coordination with Private Sector Partners, with a particular focus on coastal areas in Bangladesh and prioritizing disaster-prone districts.
